Husband Andrew's Fail Safe Roast with Excellent Crackle


  • Pork Roast
  • Salt
  • Oil (vegetable or olive oil)


  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees celcius.
  2. Pour boiling hot water over the skin.
  3. Pat dry with paper towel.
  4. Drizzle with oil, enough for the salt to cling to.
  5. Rub salt into the skin until the skin feels gritty.
  6. Cook in oven at 180 degrees celcius for 40 minutes per 500g if roast is boned and 45 minutes per 500g if boneless.
  7. Let the roast sit on the bench in foil for 10 minutes.
  8. Slice and enjoy with apple sauce or gravy.
  9. Use leftovers the next day (if there is any!) for cold roast pork rolls with apple sauce.
